The Cavemen suffered their first region defeat today as they traveled north to the home of the Lone Peak Knights. While the score ended in favor of LP 5-0 there were a number of extremely close matches that were decided by just a few pivotal points.
The singles matches were decided in straight sets, each losing sets by a couple of breaks. On the doubles courts the team of Condie and Brimhall played their first region match ever in the 1st position and played well but ended up losing 2-6, 5-7. The team of Thorpe and Nuckles came within a whisker of winning their match taking the Knight's 2nd doubles to a third set. They played well enough to make their opponents nervous but ended up losing 3-6 in the 3rd set. The Cavemen JV played some exciting matches but ended up suffering their first defeat of the season doing down swinging 3-2 to the Knights. Harry Burgess played an exciting match going up 7-4 only to find himself down 7-8 minutes later. He ended up pulling the match out 9-8 (3) winning some thrilling points on his way to victory. The 1st JV doubles team of Benji Judd and Laz Shettell bagled their opponents 8-0 which garnered our second victory of the day. Check out the results here. Overall the team played some quality tennis and closed the gap on their neighbors from the north. The next match will be played at PG on Tuesday the 29th @ 3:00pm. Come out and support the team as this match is expected to be a close one!
