This was an exciting weekend for AFHS! Congrats to the Boys Basketball team for bringing home a State Championship trophy, it's been a long 40 years since the last one. With the basketball season officially ending, we'd like to welcome those basketball players who are making the transition over to the tennis court.
Even though Monday is a NO SCHOOL day for the students, the teachers do have meetings. Practice is as usual, 2:30 - 4:30 for Varsity/JV and 4:00 - 5:00 for Practice Squad. On the tournament page, there are various tournaments that most of the guys are set up to play in, if you don't see yourself don't worry, we'll get you some matches to play soon. With no school on Monday (March 4th), there should be ample time to get some matches in. Find out who you're supposed to play and get going early and see if you can get some matches in before your official practice time begins tomorrow. There are usually lots of questions during the weekend about the ladder, practice times, ect. Many of those questions can be answered by looking at the website, which will be updated daily. When scores come in from matches, the website will be updated just make sure to report those scores using the Match Score Report button on the Ladders page. The current ladder is not as accurate as it will be a month from now. Positions will get ironed out with the more matches that are played. It's important to remember that the purpose of the ladder is to play matches that replicate real match conditions, it's meant to give players experience and match play under stress. While the ladder helps coaches get a feel of how a player compares to the others on the team, Match Lineups are always left to the discretion of the coaches. Players should look to distinguish themselves from other players, the best way to do that is win matches convincingly. With so much competition on our team this year, the coaches are looking for players who stand out from the rest.
